There are alternatives to lose weight. Beside fat loss and low carb diet programs, a pH balance diet is a very popular weight loss program at the present time. Basically, pH balance diet is an alkaline diet program. It will help your digestion process so you’ll still lose your weight when you eat fat. The two things that you must take into consideration before starting this diet plan is to test your stress level. A stressful person won’t be able to reduce their excess fat using this pH balance diet because fat burning process will depend on your stress level.

Meals in a pH balance diet is combination between high carb foods and alkaline foods. First, foods with high amount of carbohydrate such as pasta or rice. Second, alkaline foods such as veggies. pH balance diet founders believe that our body needs carbohydrate and alkaline so we will become healthier in long run. The percentage of alkaline foods in this diet plan is always 50% compared to the amount of carbohydrate.

Some people think they could go for an all alkaline veggies to get faster result. Well, it really help in short period of time but not in long term. Your body always needs protein so after you lose some pounds, it would be much better if you forget an all alkaline veggies and get back to healthier veggies which contain high amount of protein.

pH balance diet always try to look all things from their chemistry ingredients. Acid foods and alkaline foods should be consumed with limited percentage. If you eat acid foods more than alkaline ones, you must swallow the foods carefully. If you consume them too rapidly, your body will become unstable. You must remember that pH balance diet has many strict rules although they are not as strict as low carb diet plans such as Atkins.

Initially diabetes management and control may involve dietary changes alone. Diet is a vital component in your overall diabetes control program and to keep blood sugar levels under control, a diabetic diet strikes a balance among the carbohydrates, fats, and protein you eat, when you control your body functions through exercise and by using a diabetic diet, your pain and agony seems to diminish.

A diabetic diet must be a well-balanced meal plan tailored to your individual needs, tastes, activity level and life style, and its goal is to provide all the calories and nutrients the diabetic needs while keeping blood sugars as close to normal as possible. Diabetes is not a life sentence to a rigid and restrictive menu plan.

The diabetic diet basically involves limiting your carbohydrate intake in order to control your glucose levels. The recommended carbohydrate content of diabetic diet is 60%, fat content 30-35%. Another important characteristic of a diabetic diet is to eat regularly, at the same times each day, and to eat a consistent amount of calories each day; the diabetic diet is not only for diabetics: it is an excellent, balanced alternative for anyone.

Since the diabetic diet is one which is low in saturated fat and cholesterol, look for cookbooks that emphasize low-fat cooking, the diabetic diet is a bit stricter and calls for avoiding grains and fruit but you have about 30g of carbs daily. The ideal diabetic diet is also good for cholesterol with its emphasis on low fat, high complex carbohydrate and high fiber.

The most important aspect of the diabetic diet is meal planning, your meal plan should be adjusted to take into account carbs sugars and fat in the diabetic food, the general principle is to control body fat means less sensitivity to Insulin, which keeps the blood sugar level in check.

Carbohydrate Counting offers suggestions and tips about how to eat carbohydrates while maintaining your insulin needs and diabetes control, by following a consistent diet control, a diabetic patient ought to be able to maintain good health in general, but you should remember that an effective control of diabetes requires an integrated approach which also includes exercise, weight control and a good diabetic diet.

When you have diabetes, your medications are your best friends, as they will help you keep your condition under control, remember that one of the main goals for a diabetic diet is to lower your weight and maintain it, to put it in simplified words, diabetic diet is a balanced healthy diet plan which is vital for Diabetes treatment.

The diabetic diet is aimed at helping to control blood sugar levels, the less fluctuation, especially rapid release of glucose into the blood, the better, an adherence to a diabetic diet is an important aspect of controlling elevated blood sugar in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Most diabetics already know that there is some confusion concerning the most appropriate diet for the diabetic. They also know there is no single dietary program that fits all people.

This problem only gets worse as there is conflicting dietary advice from so-called experts in this field. As well, the media often reports incomplete information from medical papers, which only adds to the confusion.

It is true that refined white sugar and products containing it are not helpful for the diabetic because of the instantaneous absorption of this substance into the blood as glucose. But there is more to a diet than just sugar considerations.

Some claims have been made of type 2 diabetes being cured through diet alone. The diabetic associations worldwide, however, are resolute that no cure for diabetes exists today. There is no diet to prevent type 2 diabetes!

Pritikin Diet

Christian Roberts of the University of California undertook research into diet and diabetes and found that in 50% of those who followed a diet based on Pritikin principles, the type 2 diabetes symptoms were reversed. Managing type 2 diabetes with a low carb diet could work very well.

The regime for this study had participants exercising for one hour every day. They were also given a diet that was based on vegetables and whole grains with a only little animal protein eaten.

Another small study in the USA concluded that high fibre diets assisted in keeping blood glucose levels low.

Low Fat, Carbohydrate-based Diet

There is controversy over the dietary recommendations being offered by the diabetic associations both in the UK and the US. Their current advice is for diabetics to follow a low fat, carbohydrate-based diet despite what appears to be fairly compelling evidence to the contrary.

The problem in deciding what represents a safe diet, whether for diabetics or not, is in knowing which research to trust. Most research has an agenda. It may be that the research is being sponsored by a drug company to prove the benefits of a particular drug treatment. It may be that the research is undertaken by someone who is simply setting out to prove a theory. There is too little research that is truly independent and undertaken without prejudice to the outcome.

Atkins-type Diet

It has been recommended that an Atkins-type diet, high in fat and protein and low in carbohydrate, is the most suitable for a diabetic. It would certainly seem logical that restricting carbohydrates would help to prevent elevated glucose levels in the blood stream. There could well be consistency between low blood sugar and the Atkins diet. Proponents of the Atkins diet claim that cholesterol levels are not adversely affected by this diet regime. Of course there are contrary views.

Diabetics should understand that each person has his own individual metabolism and physiology. What may be a healthy diet for one person might very well be life threatening for another. Diets for type 1 diabetes should never me mixed with diet plans for type 2 diabetes.

A diet centered around healthy proteins such as white meat and fish, vegetables, natural carbohydrates, salads and fruit as well as monounsaturated fat supplemented by the essential fatty acids is a good starting point. Once this is established there is no reason why, under controlled conditions, individuals should not try introducing whole grains to see what effect they have on their glucose levels. In this way diabetics can evaluate for themselves what represents a healthy diet.

THE BASICS

The Ethos of the GI Diet is a simple one: To eat a healthy balanced diet, that is easy to follow and you never feel hungry. Great eh?

HOW IT WORKS

The system is divided into traffic light symbols.Green means you can eat as much of these foods as you want. Fill up on many vegetables, salads and some fruits. yellow you eat in moderation, but this can include some cereals, breads and pulses, red you guessed it - these are the “no-no’s”! Unrefined sugar, candy, cakes, cookies - that sort of thing.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

I have had gastric band surgery. However, directly after the operation the weight loss was very slow.My consultant established, through various expensive tests, that there was a problem with the way my body absorbed carbohydrates. Basically, I had eaten too many carbs over time and my body was not able to distinguish between carbs and other foods, so everything I ate virtually was treated as carb, causing an insulin problem. The consultant suggested that I try the GI diet. This, in conjunction with the surgery made me lose over 40lbs in my first 6 weeks. Even now, when I need a boost, I revert to this diet.

TREATS

So, what about treats, goodies, candy, CHOCOLATE!? Do not be alarmed! There are various low carb chocolates and candies available. Some are so substantial that they can be used as meal substitutes. Some are better than others, but it really is a question of personal taste. I particularly liked the Atkins Bars. They were very filling and handy to keep with me in case of emergencies.

The Sonoma Diet Plan is really easy to use because you do not have to count points or calories. The basic diet plan consist of the Mediterranean and Sonoma Valley, California wine. But before you jump on board to this new diet you make sure it will work for you. It sounds great sitting around eating great fruit and sipping red wine but let’s talk about the facts.

The pros to the diet is that it is simple to do and instead of weighing food you use plates and bowls to control portion sizes. Maybe one of the best things about the diet is there is positive reinforcement on what you can eat and not what is not allowed. There are of course foods that are not recommended but there focus is on enjoying great quality and healthy foods.

One of the other important facts to remember is that the diet is about eating slower and enjoying your food. This is important because it helps with digestion and it also promotes not over eating. After the first 10 day period you are allowed to add wine to your diet as well.

This diet is big on eating healthy and promotes people to eat a lot of phytonutrients and antioxidants. The diet is not based on starving yourself and the key is getting enough nutrition. The metabolism rate is the rate at which you burn food and they promote keeping this high so that you will naturally burn the food you need to to stay lean.

The Sonoma Diet has a structure system that if you follow will help you loose weight and and have a healthy body.

Some of the cons to the diet is that you are on a limited number of calories in the beginning and it can be hard to find any alternatives but after a few weeks the calories increase.

The diet overall is pretty good and seems to be healthy and promote weight loss but make sure you take a look at all your options and make sure this diet can fit into your lifestyle.

We all know that we should treat our bodies better than we do sometimes. But, more often than we would like, that is easier said than done.

We all know that we should treat our bodies better than we do sometimes. But, more often than we would like, that is easier said than done. Some of us tend to try to burn the candle at both ends, so to speak, and a little to often. Despite our good intentions we can, occasionally, fall victim to a wide variety of temptations that are not too good for us.

One of these temptations is eating in a hurry because we are starving Marvins. In moments of weakness, our old diet habits shift into auto pilot mode and propel us into taking the path of least resistance. We succumb easily to fast and convenient foods because it’s easier not to plan ahead. I am guilty of that too, from time to time. You can do yourself a huge favor by learning to shop differently for food.

How about when we feel we must work harder, more hours, and more often than we like, or had planned? When we put those extra efforts into our work life, and sometimes our recreational life too, we end up short-changing ourselves on sleep. Not getting enough rest or relaxation can be something we have a hard time making up.

As a culture, and on the average, we tend to fall into old social pressure habits. We try to make up for our lack of stamina by fighting our body’s stresses with too much caffeine, using herbal supplements, energy drinks, and often combine these with almost no physical activity. We fool ourselves into thinking there is a quick fix for our lack of go-power somewhere.

So, when you hear about the two new latest buzz words called ’super foods’, and how they can help make you feel better you are all ears. Unlike other diet fads that have come and gone throughout the years, eating a diet high in a wide variety of super foods really does have a lot of healthy stay power. They are not likely to fall out of grace any time soon due to lack of results, as they really do have health enhancing benefits.

Congratulations, if you are making a real conscious decision to include more of them in your daily diet. However, you will have to do more than just drink a cup of green tea every day, or eat a piece of fresh fruit once in a while to get the full effect of erasing, or reversing, the damage done over many years.

Eating and drinking differently with the intent to get the healthy effects you are looking for takes a certain amount of dedication on your part. You have to understand that going this route will not be a quick solution. Don’t make the mistake of viewing these foods as boring, or as an unsatisfying, diet food plan. Look at it as a complete dietary lifestyle change.

Take small steps as you learn, and until you are feeling more confidant and secure in your new choices. Get comfortable with the idea that this may be a lengthy road you are taking. See it as a happy, ongoing journey of ever learning. Lower your expectations in how long you think it might actually take to reach your goal.

With that being said, technically, the term ’super food’ includes most all foods in their whole, raw, and unprocessed form, with a few exceptions. Here are just a small few of the miracle health foods to incorporate into a healthy diet plan.

Fruits and vegetables: Eat them freshly harvested when possible, and raw or uncooked. Steaming or stir-fry is acceptable, and considered lightly cooked. Frozen is next best, and preferred over canned. These plant foods are are full of photolytic compounds, antioxidant vitamins, minerals, fiber, and enzymes.

Oils: Fish oils found in cold water fish are high in heart, brain, and joint healthy omega-3 fatty acid oils. Coconut oil is a saturated plant oil that is necessary for optimal health. Try to find a coconut oil that has not been treated with solvents or heated to extract the oil. Olive oil is nutritionally best, although stronger tasting, when consumed as extra virgin. Extra virgin is less refined and higher in vitamin E. A mostly monounsaturated oil.

Nuts: Are chock full of minerals, and have vitamin B-9 (folate), vitamin B-3 (niacin), vitamin E, protein, fiber, and iron. They are higher in monounsaturated oil than polyunsaturated.

Sprouts: Are rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and protein. They are one of the most nutritionally complete of all foods. They are considered a living food because, even after their harvesting, they continue to grow slowly and the vitamin content increases upon refrigeration. They can be fun to grow yourself, and there are many different types of sprouts.

Green tea: Is considered to be the most nutritionally superior of all teas, although other varieties of teas do contain healthful properties as well. Green tea is especially high in antioxidants called ‘polyphenols’. This substance has recently been found to reduce the health damaging effects of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). It is best, however, to avoid the commercially distributed product varieties and brew your own.

Flax seeds: Is a good plant source of omega-3 fatty acid, a different fat chain of omega-3 than fish oil. A photolytic compound called ‘lignans’ found in flax seeds is also a good source of fiber. Flax seeds are nutritionally better for you than flax seed oil. Grinding the seeds is preferred, as they are very small and are better absorbed by the body. A pepper mill works great for this, and you can eat the ground seeds on cereals, salads, and more.

Tomatoes and carrots: Are a few exceptions to the raw is better than cooked way of eating fruits and vegetables. One theory explains that more of the available photolytic antioxidants like ‘lycopene’ in tomatoes, and ‘beta carotene’ in carrots are released in the cooking process by breaking down the plant cells.

When it comes to fluid intakes, eliminating processed beverages high in caffeine, sugar and artificial sugar, and alcohol is a very helpful move, that has far reaching health benefits. You will be amazed at this one technique alone!

Outside of raw milk, fermented drinks like kombucha tea and kiefer, fresh juiced juices, or home brewed teas water should be, by and large, making up the bulk of your main fluid intake. It should be around three fourths of what to be drinking each and every day.

Don’t forget to add a bit of unrefined salt to your kitchen salt shaker. It is much higher in trace minerals than the cheaper, grocery store variety of refined salt. Increased water intakes calls for adequate salt ratios.

Expect some of these diet changes to taste a little differently to you for a while. It helps to ingrain in your mind a positive mental picture, in that these foods are way better for you than processed. Before long, you will begin to notice they actually do taste, and satisfy, better than refined, processed foods. You can season with fresh or died herbs if you like, to enhance the flavor of these foods even further.

Again, please don’t forget to drink plenty of water with your new diet plan. Water should be considered the ’super’ body fluid solvent to maximize your new super food diet results.

The vegetarian diet also has some other benefits. Not only does it help stabilize your blood sugar level, it also helps you to be able to get off your medications, including insulin injections. This allows vegetarian diabetics to feel safe knowing that the diet they are already on makes them healthier.

Vegetarians consume a larger percentage of fiber than non-vegetarians which helps strengthen their health. This is because fiber slows down the body’s dispensation of carbohydrates, which assists a diabetic in keeping a stabilized blood sugar level.

A vegetarian’s diet is typically healthier because it lowers blood pressure and heart disease, which is an extra benefit for a diabetic. The diet is also lower in saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories and has more potassium, fiber and magnesium.

As you can see, you can get a better blood sugar level and lose weight in a more stable manner when you combine a vegetarian diet with a diabetic diet. However, this does not mean you can eat everything you want. You will still need to watch the foods you consume because some meatless foods can be just as fattening as foods that contain meat.

Before you go and change your diet to a vegetarian diabetic diet, you should consult your doctor and a first-class dietitian so they can help you develop a meal plan that works with you and your health problems, if any exist. The main factor you will need to address is to get hold of a list of alternative for your meat because meat contains protein and you will still need the protein in your daily diet.

When transitioning into this new diet, you need to give your body some time to adjust to the new foods. You should also incorporate this new diet into your lifestyle gradually so it will not be such a shock to your system which can cause your blood sugar levels to fluctuate. Keep checking your blood sugar level through this transition so you can keep your blood sugar stable.

So, you can enhance your health, lose weight and maintain a normal blood sugar level by just mixing a vegetarian diet along with a diabetic diet. Talking to a dietitian can help you develop get a list of foods you can gradually substitute into your diet rather than eating meat. Making sure you do these things will help your diet get off to a better start and will allow you to maintain a healthier way of eating.
